Turkish carpets form an essential part of Turkish culture. Carpet weaving represents a traditional art, going back to pre-Islamic times. Oushak rugs are some of the finest rugs, as the popular star and medallion carpets originated there. They also use floral ornaments to cause a pattern revolution. This particular rug has a dark brown border with blue and ivory floral motifs. In the center there is a sandy brown background with pale blue, brown and a bit of ivory. There is a bit of a floral design as well as a medallion. It is an excellent example of their artwork. Its earth tone colors make it very traditional as well as contemporary.
